I love the size but as usual i am sure it will be overpriced in this country, ie half a cigar for the price of a whole one.

no harm having mroe choice but don't discontinue all the good old sizes and just try to sell us this big fat or short fat sticks.

i personally like HdM PR, i treat it like a PC, but they are a bit pricey nowadays.

I thought it was because the Churchill from R&J has quite a good reputation and is probably quite a good seller due to the Churchill name so they are just cashing in on this. I wonder if it is the same blend as the julieta no. 2, just in a different size?

Is the Short churchill the "same" blend as the julieta No.2? And the Wide churchill? "Similar", "approaching", "comparable", maybe.

But the blend can't be "the same" in a 100mm cigar and a 178mm cigar. The leaves are too different.

I think he means they wouldn't waste leaves. Longer (slightly older) leaves lower on the plant, shorter (slightly younger) leaves higher on the plant. I think it would make a difference.
If you want to, you can.

Yes, and no, actually: to roll a good, rich large/long cigar you need large leaves from the 2 highests levels ("corona" and "centro gordo"), which are rare; if you use only large leaves from the bottom you end up with a volado roll , like most churchills and DCs from the "bad years"…

I thought there were to quote "stockpiles in warehouses for years"....would this not allow with those explanations 100mm & 178mm cigars to have the same blend if the manufacturer decided that?
Or is it just down to cost?

My conversations with several of the visiting rollers has confirmed that there is a different ratio of ligero, seco and vilado for each vitola. This conversation came about when discussing why the Petit Edmudo is much better then the Edmundo. What came back is that they are a different blend/ratio.

So following on from Frank's comments it would normally be the case at HSA that the various R and J Churchill incarnations would all have a slightly different blend. This means (like the Edmundo/Petit Edmundo) one can be far better than the other.

The biggest problem with R and J as far as I am concerned is the blend (for regular production) seems to have vanished about 10 years ago. They can bring our as many variants as they want but I won't be buying any (unless something/someone really changes my mind).
