  • HSA announces RyJ Petit Churchills

Apparently HSA has recently announced that it will soon release an RyJ Petit Churchill with a size of 4 1/8 x50: http://www.halfwheel.com/press-relea...it-churchills/

This is probably really anal of me, but I find the names 'Short Churchill', 'Wide Churchill' and now 'Petit Churchill' irritating. I think that the term 'Churchill' should be reserved to describe Julieta No. 2 sized cigars (7x47). Why not call the new Petit Churchill the RyJ Petit Robusto, seeing as it's a petit robusto in size?

Anyway, does the RyJ brand really need another short and fat cigar? I think not. How about a RyJ lancero instead?

Ok, rant over. What are your thoughts about this new release?

I hear you, amigo. Nothing but marketing, no doubt.

The Petit Churchill would likely be called a Rothchild, in NC parlance.

But rant away muchacho....rant away, indeed!

The Cuban factory name for a Churchill is a Julieta No. 2. A Romeo No. 2 is a
petit corona and its factory name is a Mareva. Confusing I know....

I do like some Romeo and Julietas: The standard Churchills and Exhibition No. 4s are both excellent IMO and the Cedros series aren't bad, but I really don't like the Short or Wide Churchills. So another short and fat cigar is unlikely to be to my taste.

I agree entirely! What's next?....the "little bit longer but not quite as wide Churchill","Churchill extra" etc etc.I won't be bothering with it either purely on the size.I know some people rave about PR's but for me it's neither one thing or the other.

The possibilities are endless. Next we'll have the 'little bit longer but not quite as wide Churchill', then the 'slightly shorter but wider Churchill' and it will eventually end up with the 'Churchill that's a little bit wider than the longer but not quite as wide Churchill but not quite as wide as the slightly shorter but wider Churchill'.

Double banded with gold leaf attached and glamorously boxed as an EL,of course!

And the band will have to take up two thirds of the cigar so they can fit the name on it!
