hey styler, i've never had a VR unicos and never felt inclined to try 'em! how would you describe them and liken them to? i'm familiar with the famosos, familiars and classicos...... love em all!

I've had tons of P2's. They're my favourite larger cigar. I've only ever had a single monte 2 so i can't really make an accurate comparison (though i did really enjoy it).

Good discussion, i like both with the P2 being more consistent and still one of my favourite smokes, however the Monte No2 on a good day is tough to beat, and one of the best tasting cigars out there imo..

I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned the Dippy No. 2 yet - it's a great pyramide and much more consistent than the Monte IMHO.

            1/Monte No2
            2/Party No2
            3/RG Unicos
            4/Dippy No2
Unfortuantely H.Upmann just doesn't do it for me at all.

I too would put dip 2 above the monte

When 'on' these guys give great earthy chocolate flavours with occasional sweet woody blasts. Really enjoying a 2009 box right now.

First shock - comparing a p2 to a monte 2. Monte is far superior

Second shock - that nobody has suggested the bolivar belicosos finos. Try it, you'll love it

Hi Ethem....it's a Belicoso so maybe that's why no-ones mentioned it?!?!

It's my fave pointy cigar though....

Party 2 tubos all the way. Try to get some from 2008 - 2010. Blows the inconsistent monte 2 out the water.

And the VR Unicos is a piramide so looks like we are sticking to the 'pointy' cigars. To be honest theres almost no diff between belicosos and torpedoes so its definitely worth comparing

I completely agree, after the no 2 the finos is my favourite pointy cigar

This thread sure is sure heating up

I loved the Monte 2 when I first got seriously into Cubans but recently I've found my tastes moving away from the Monte flavour profile. Party No2 is a stonking smoke, as is the Bolivar Belicosos Finos (though boli's definitely need at least a couple of years on them to lose that harshness).

Have to agree on the Dippy 2, puts more expensive sticks to shame.

Which reminds me, I have a single Partagas Pyramid LE 2000 sat in my humi, maybe now is the time to light her up?

I stand corrected . There is a 16mm difference in length which i never realised.

I stand by the belicosos finos as a better smoke though lol

I have tried to like the p2 but i just cant seem to enjoy it as much

Love the P2 and Monte 2, as others have stated; the P2 is very consistant but the Monte 2 can definitely vary. Also, had some early 2011 Monte 2s that are only now starting to give out any sort of developed taste. The Vegas Robaina Unicos can be great, as can the H Upmann 2.
