Montie no2. Yes it's inconsistent but when it's good it's one of the greatest smokes on the planet IMHO

P2's are consistantly good, the Monty's are not. But, when you do get a good'n, by Jove, it's a good'n!

+1. If you want a consistently decent cigar, then the P2 is the better option. But when you get a good Monte No. 2, it beats the P2 hands down.

If you want a midget to look like a baby, don't put a cigar in his mouth.

it's all well and good saying that, when the monte2 is on form, it's one of the greatest! fair point, but they're not always on form! the party p2, however, is always on form, as is the upmann no.2! i would have no probs buying 25 P2's or upmann 2's, never the monte2! it's too much of a gamble......

Sorry guys, p2 does absolutely nothing for me (and I love shorts, lusis, 898, and even the d4 is growing on me!) But the Monte 2 is a great smoke, good all the time for me and some of the time absolutely awesome!

Monte for me too, awesome flavours, yes they are a little unpredictable, but thn that's all part of the fun.

Partegas are just a little samey if you ask me.

Though I finally had one of my PSPN1's the other day and it was very mellow, a great smoke.

To be really honest I have found them both to be a tad disappointing over the last couple of years. Have smoke quite a few of both from boxes of 09's, 10's and 11's and come away feeling very disillusioned. The taste that always comes to mind when I have a bad one is 'cardboard'.

Sorry, I know this is no help whatsoever but had to vent as I am noticing this quite often with Cubans at the moment but afraid that it is just me. For me, apart from a tight draw in a cigar, the next biggest crime is blandness.

+1. I agree with Jacob on this to some fair degree. I've been disappointed with with a lot of recent offerings. So much so that for the most part now I try to chase down older vitola.

On the 2s question, I've had good and bad Monte and Partagas .... but never a bad Upmann, which I much prefer over the other two anyway.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

P2 for me, easy decision. I'm just not a fan of Montys in general. I'd have the VR Unicos as my other favourite in the vitola.

that's odd arf, because i've found most of the 09, 10 & 11 offerings to be great straight out of the box! my experiences being that RYJ, bolivar, h upmann, juan lopez, ramon allones are good from the get go, and can only get better! partagas, montecristo, cohiba, vega robaina all need a few months to settle down before they become approachable!

and +1 on the h upmann no.2! h upmann can do no wrong with me at the moment!
