I bought a single Cohibo in a tube in January as a present, but circumstances have stopped me from giving it to my friend until now. Will it still be OK?

Welcome to the forum! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it will be dry. But all is not lost! They can be rehumidifed, albeit, slowly
If your friend has a humidor then a couple of months in there and it should be right as rain. If not, then a small tupperware container with some humidity beads or similar (you can little packs online for very cheap) should sort it out. The trouble is when you put a dry stick into a humidified environment you run the risk of it getting too wet and bursting, so if at all possible, the humidity should be raised slowly.
The guys on here have a wealth of information and I suspect you'll have lots of advice coming your way in the coming days
Do you smoke cigars yourself? I hope you end up sticking around and getting into this lovely hobby! -
Hmm, could be fine if it hasn't been removed from the tubo and kept in a stable humidity since. A stogie with no stable humidity for a long time could result with all the tobacco oils dried out, making it unsmokable.
Saying that, I smoked a cigar last week, from a mate who got them as a gift back in Feb. I keep telling him to get a humi though. Smoked it, was meh. Could have just been a naff stogie since it was just a Charatan lol!

If you haven't opened the tube, or kept it anywhere close to a radiator it (should) be fine. The cigar was packed into the tube at Cuban humidity which isn't too dissimilar to UK although we have more variation. But, so far it's been a damp year so the chances of humidity escaping the tube are relatively small.Originally posted by Chris Milburn View Post

I said SHOULD TJ, not WOULD. These days, yes the tubes make a pretty marketing tool. But they are functional too and first ones (introduced by Fonseca) were plain tin. Last year I was given a RyJ Romeo 2, that had been forgotten in a kitchen cupboard drawer for over ten years .... smoked fine.
And anyway, whatever posseses you to allow five year olds to fire up your Puros?
