  • H. Upmann

    Hi i recently bought 10 H.Upmann Magnum 50's. box B0S June 10.
I must say i was a little disappointed as the cigar didn't give me the flavor that i was expecting. It was well made, burned well but the overall taste was lacking somewhat. Any others had the same experience or should i just give them more time?

Hi Bombay, you didn't say what flavours your were expecting, was it a bigger version of the Mag46 you were hoping for? From my somewhat limited experience with the Magnums the 50 is certainly the milder of the two.

I would try and lave them for another year if you can. The younger versions can be strong in their first 12-18 months. Time is the answer.

I just opened a box of 1 year old Conn 1 last night and although they are still a nice smoke they are strong.

Yeah the 50's always were a little on the mild side.

Nice though if you just want a chilled out smoke

Agreed. The Mag 50 has been the only Upmann I've tried that I wouldn't bother with again. Love the Connies, No.2's, Mag 46 + 48's, but the 50 was just a bit dull for me.

I love a Mag50 for a relaxing easy smoke, not really one for after a big meal.

Send them to me and I'll get rid of them if you don't like them...

Have to agree with Dave, a lovely smoke smoke IMHO but just don't try to find a 46 in them... A different blend of cigar to me and well worth putting a couple of years on them.

Can you tell us the box date you have..?

Looks like I'm going to have to give them another go after all!

I've bought a couple of boxes of 10 and have never loved them. I'm a massive fan of Mag46 and the #2 but just don't think much of them.

I had a Magnum 48 last week in Estonia as recommended by Smallclub and found it to be very flavoursome, rich and aromatic, got to say as a newbie to cigar culture I'm finding it hard to match that stick now I'm back home. Might treat myself for fathers day.
