Reloba cigar..

A friend of mine, just gave me a cigar...he said he got it from someone who went to Cuba...
It's band says Reloba, i guess it looks like a local cigar or something...anyone know much about it.

The band looks very similar to Bauza which is a local cuban too, lucky guy! Looking forward to what you say it smokes like

Looks alot like the cuban peso cigars the barmen seriously overcharge you for if you dont know better.

Still from the one ive had they smoke far better than guantanimos which is saying something.

Blue paper bands are common on Reloba / Bauza with brown/tan on el Credito and others. I think they just print on whatever paper they have handy.
Some friends did a "taste test" of peso cigars a few years ago and Reloba came out on top. On top relative to a bunch of pretty harsh little local "tabacos".
Machine made from vuelts ariba leaf or even Matanzas grown black tobacco.
Regularly priced at $1 CUP (moneda nacional) each so a bundle costs about $1 CUC (tourist currency-24 CUP/CUC) but locals will try to sell them to you for anything from $1 CUC each to $5 CUC each (if you really insist on being very thick)

I've heard folks claim that these are "better" than export cigars such as Jose L. Piedra or Quintero but I'd say: Naw.

I still get bundles of these from a friend who has a Cuban wife and so visits her family 3 times a year, come in paper bundles and they cost around a dollar for 25 and they make acceptable gardening smokes, great for the money

I've had El Credito sticks, mine had blue labels, and they weren't bad at all. I shared some of them around the Forum and they were well received.

They looked a little rough and smelled a little funky but on the whole provided 40 minutes or so of reasonable smoking time. Nothing earth shattering but I got the end without a struggle.

I have had the Rebolas as well. When you see a bunch in a local store, you'll notice they are not matched in shade or size. Perfectably acceptable but if bringing them back, I wouldn't put them in your normal humi, quarrentine them in a cool box or similar as they won't have been cold treated & are than more likely to be carrying them damn wee beasties. And do you really want these to count to your 50 allocation? I brought some cigars off a farmer, unlabelled & got them back in additon to my 100 (with the wife). Brussells Customs said they should be 9cts per cigar duty but they couldn't be bothered. Haven't tried it at Heathrow

I just smoked it, and it tasted just like a jose l piedra to be honest...it drew easy and was very spongy, never really produced much flavour....but i'm not complaining as it was a freebie...
