La Gloria Cubana question

Yesterday I received a gift of four cubans from one of my pipe customers, one of which is a La Gloria Cubana No.3. I looked up each cigar to read a bit about it, and discovered that the La Gloria cigars are hard to find. Does any body know any information about this brand?

I know A LOT of information about this brand , as the M?daille d'Or No.3 and 4 are among my favorite cigars.
What to say?
The entire line was rolled at the Partagas factory, and share several points with the Partagas taste. They were not produced every year.
These cigars are not very interesting until they reach a certain age - 3 or 4 years minimum IMO. They can age indefinitely, allowing them to show an amazing complexity.
Unfortunately the line is now reduced to the No.2 and the No.4 which are both hard to find.

Smoke your No.3 very slowly: if it gets overheated it will become harsh and uninspiring?

The few I have managed to find have been lovely cream coffee. Essentially they are a dead brand in the UK

Do you know why production had been reduced to only the no. 2 and 4?

People would rather buy crap cigars that look good instead of taste good so they can show off how rich and classy they are.

Wonderful brand, little known in the UK, I used to buy them in Spain. Here's a few memories 1,2&3 No 3, smokes to the very nub. 4, Another No3, 5, Sabrosos on an autumn afernoon.

What a waste Simon, you could've removed that band and had another puff or two. Damn, that must've been one great cigar.

By the way, my cigar of choice lately has been the NC (for obvious reasons) La Gloria Cubana Series R #6 or #7 Maduro.

Absolutely correct.

Something Frank forgot to mention. Once upon a time LGC were considered the Cuban flagship brand. They're not the prettiest sticks usually, leaf matching etc isn't high on the LGC agenda, they are all about the taste(s) and the way in which it evolves and improves over a long period of time. IMHO, and it is only my opinion, an LGC will give any Cohiba or Trinidad a run for their money, and leave most of them standing.

LGC is the problem with cuban cigars so under appreciated and almost forgotten but such great smokes as people seem to have moved away from panatelas and lonsdales to more short and stubby things.

For a long time after i got my box of UK RE Glorioso in 08 i thought that was all they did until i found the No4s but they are next to imposable to source in England as i still havnt found a site that sells them.
