Cubans so expensive!

I've been looking around on e-tailer sites for cubans (I'm very new and just learning), and my first reaction is how expensive cigars are. I'm used to paying a tenner for 50g of pipe tobacco that will last a fortnight. Makes it hard to be willing to pay even more for one smoke, but man, the cuban I had was so good that I'm willing. So what makes cubans so pricey?

In the UK it's the taxman that makes them bloody expensive!!!

I try to rationalise the price of a good cigar against for example, the price of a good meal or going to the cinema....much of muchness IMO

Or compare it to a fag smoker, 7 quid for 20 can get you a nice cigar

Oh non cubans, not tried one yet, im new to cigars and ive only tried a few cuban ones. What are they like? Ive seen a selection on cgars website, what do you recommend? Im only prepared to buy legit imported ones to try so cgars get my business as i know there a legit uk company. Thanks in advance

Most non Cubans can be boringly one dimensional, others can have a slightly more complex personality though. It's worth trying a few imo, just to get your own opinion.

I've had non cubans in the states....a couple were enjoyable but nothing exciting enough to get me interested in cigars. I suppose that is why, once I moved to UK, I didn't seek out a tobacconist. That, and, there are no good tobacconists in Cornwall. As for taxes, I avoid them by getting my pipe tobacco twice a year when I visit my folks in Indiana. But there is no chance of buying cubans in the states, so I must embrace the tax!

I was only pointing out that all tobacco products are expensive in the UK. Also some of us like non cubans. You just have to pick the right ones. There is too much snobbery around CC and NC smokes. If you like it, smoke it!
