  • Cohiba P?ramides Extra

New info in from Habanos SA (start saving!!!):

Pir?mides Extra sticks to the blend of the Linea Clasica de Cohiba, featuring a mild-to-strong taste and totally hand-rolled with leaves that are the cream of the crop from the plantations of San Juan y Martinez (D.O.P. for Protected Denomination of Origin in Spanish) and San Luis (D.O.P.), in the region of Vuelta Abajo (D.O.P.) in the Cuban province of Pinar del Rio (D.O.P.).

Cohiba is an exclusive brand highly coveted by seasoned smokers. In addition to its undisputed quality and history, this is the only brand in which three out of the four leaf types used in the making of Habanos ?Seco, Ligero and Medio Tiempo- endure additional fermentation in casks, a very special process that renders in peerless scent and taste.

The new Pir?mides Extra de Cohiba also stands out for featuring a new band that will now wrap this brand of Habanos. It boasts the Indian head design and other visible and hidden holographic elements that guarantee heightened security for this product.

Its presentation in tubes ?a novelty within the Linea Clasica- is also very elegant. The brand logo stands out as well and features an anti-fake security code that represents a warranty of authenticity for consumers.

Created in 1966, Cohiba?s lineup includes Lineas Clasicas, 1492, Maduro 5 and Cohiba Behike. The brand-new Pir?mides Extra de Cohiba (ring gauge 54 x 160 mm long) now joins the Linea Clasica (Classic Line) with a very exclusive production.

Why do I feel like a lab rat about to be electrocuted?

I want to give them a try.. but the memory of those 66's makes me wary of approaching.

Is it me.. or are Cohiba just 'coasting' these days?
Trading on their name.. and charging premium prices for what are (so often).. ordinary cigars.

hate that new band, why this new brand? the current band is ugly enough compare to the previous version, why make it worst again?

focus on the cigars not the band, habano SA !!!

I think the bands look quite nice, a bit bling maybe but who doesn't like a bit of bling?!

Going on recent high end Cohiba's, I'm thinking of post 1st run Behike's here, I shall be staying away from these for a few years until they have aged a bit.

As far as the band, I quite like some of the recent designs, I just hope they don't go too far like some NC's and have them take up a large proportion of the stick.

Smoked one on Friday night. Nice cigar, mild/medium, creamy and a sweet spice. Nice band, fine wrapper. Not worth ?30 to me, but I'd imagine they'll sell well.

What would you choose instead out of interest?

The one I smoked was from the Monday night festival dinner. They are probably a few months away from release. To answer what I would choose instead, of recent releases, more and more of the upmann royal robusto. Great cigars at about half the price.
