corona gordas..... what next?

hey all,
having took a chance recently on the SLR serie A and been very impressed, i'm keen to try some other cigars in this size format!!! i've had the h upmann magnum46 and cohiba siglo IV, happy enough, but not enough to make me want to buy a full box! i'm considering the HDM epi 1 or juan lopez selecion1!!! what would you guys out there recommend? i've saw the latest FOH video for the hdm epi 1, which ticks all my boxes again (tbh, i've never been let down by their reviews)!!!

let me know your thoughts please

ps: chances are the boxes will be 2011's, so please, no recommendations for aged sticks!

Had an Epi 1 and is was nice. Can't comment on the others.

+1 for Epi 1 Alex, had one recently and it was spot on although maybe biased as I think HDM can do no wrong at the minute

Epi1's are good but not as good as the Epi2's.

I've also enjoyed Mag46's and you should still be able to find 2010 boxes to give you a head start.

What about Punch Punch? Earthy flavours... 09 boxes available in some places.

A further thought... have you tried the Allones Extra's? OK they are 44 gauge but not far off the corona gorda size?

HDM epi 1 and Juan Lopez selecion1 are both good cigars, you can't go wrong.
I suggest
- RA Superiores (lcdh exclusivity)
- Rafael Gonzales Corona Extra for a change of pace

it's looking like i may be able to stretch funds for a box of each (loads of overtime plus an unexpected, backdated, 4% pay rise)!!! of course, 'er indoors will have to be treated first!!! lol!!

i've had the punch punch as well, didn't really do it for me!!! punch is one of those brands i've yet to appreciate.....

the RA superiores and RG corona extra are interesting suggestions!!! i've no experience with RG cigars..... what am i to expect? anyone on here tried them?

Have had the Superiores on my list for a while. Odd that I didn't think of them.
I've had some of the smaller RG's - the Panatelas Extra, which I just didn't get on with and sold the box after only smoking 4-5 out of it. Too light and one-dimensional (woody / floral) for me.

How about some HdM Regalos if you can find them - couple of places still have them? 46RG x 137 (as opposed to 143 for a true Corona Gorda) I've got a box which are superb at the moment, I really think the 4-5 years they have on them puts them in about their prime. It's my full intent to smoke the majority of the box this year and next!

I tried the RA Superiores about 6 months ago when I brought a box (10) and two singles, very good, but a little more age would improve to superb maybe... I'm giving the other single another year before I retest.

Punch made about 4/5 CG's - best probably the super selection No. 2, which was the strongest, would need 10 years min, this was discontinued in 02, then the RS11 (one of my fav's) again needs age, then Punch Punch, and the mildest the Black Prince, RS11 and Black Prince where Discontinued in 2010/2002 2/3 others in the size finished in the 80's. (MRN)

I'm still looking for the RG corona extra and the H Upmann super corona to try, but have never found them! most of the current CG's are good smoke's (bar maybe the LFDC!)
