Partagas Serie D No 4

I just received the box I got at Mitch auction. Just realised It was quite different from the Party D4 that I had. So I decided to fired those two up at the same time. Flavourwise was quite similar - not totally the same. The box from Mitch's auction is '02 code box, was quite harsh on the nose. However the other one from '10 code box was really smooth. I was expecting the opposite.
I noticed the band is also different . the '10's band is dark red and has just only one dot after the letter "o" ; The '02's band is light red and has 3 dots after the letter "D" "O" and number 4. ( Photo 2&3)
The wrapper of the '10 is slightly darker than the '02 but the ash is a bit whiter? (Photo 1 &4)

Can someone tell me why do I have these differences? Is it because Partagas start using new wrapper and blend in the serie D lately?

There are 2 different bands in circulation. I've had cigars with both. One from CGars and one from Deano, so have to assume they were both real. It is also discussed alot on the net.

So do they use different wrapper as well? As cigars in my '02 box all have the same colour and they all lighter than the '10 box.

The Partagas D4 may wear wrappers of ANY color, from the lightest and dryest yellowish/greenish to the darkest maduro brown. To be honest if you don't know that, you should think twice before risking your money in that kind of auction…

All the D4s I've had recently were from Cuba (i.e. when I went/friends went) and were definitely from the Partagas factory shop. Not see the other band, but I know Monte bands subtly changed colours over the years imo.

According to sources, the difference in the Banding... Dot's no Dot's.
This was infact, a mistake by the supplier of the bands to the Partagas factory, and both may still be seen on the SD No4.

I have slightly different bands on a few PSDN4s but all the same wrapper colour. Strange to see to party s4's with different leaf wrapper :s
