  • Odd things which go through your mind .... smoking a cuban mini

... well, they do. A Cohiba mini lasts me app. 9mins smoked gently. Smoking one and thinking about it, brought into memory this ...

which I'd read some time back. Now, I'm pretty sure Mr Wolters is a knowledgeable sort of bloke and not likely to be puffing like a mofo, but maybe he misread his Breitling because 20mins for a 99mm x 44 gauge sounds a little on the too quick side to me.

The H Upmann Half Coronas are beginning to appear in B&Ms in Europe. And quick burning aside, words like:- bad luck, lemons, overheating and bitterness aren't really confidence inspiring, especially as I was hoping they might make an ideal winter smoke.

Moral of this post. Don't think. Smoke.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

i smoked a couple of the Cohiba Mini's for the first time during a business trip recently. They left me feeling a bit dirty, almost like I had smoked a cigarette. I was not inhaling and was getting a small cigar hit but the taste is not good and the smell is bad.

My conclusion is that smoking Mini's tell me I am an addict not an afficianado.

For the price of most minis you can buy a PC/JC anyway!

As an ex-cigarette smoker I feel that smoking minis is a step closer back toward the darkside.

True contemplation, analysis and enjoyment don't occur during a 10 minute smoke.

        That's just my view though

Same here Travis. Feels far too much like a tab. I've found myself nearly inhaling....and I've been off the fags for 12 years

Haha! He said "off the fags!"

(Ahem!) Mind your manners, you boob. Odd though it may be, "fags" are "cigarettes" in the UK

Thanks Will for following the thread. That's exactly what I was hoping. But seemingly there are issues. LCdH Hamburg are even mentioning the possible failings in their sales descriptions .... a bit of a worry.

Seemingly though the Upmann Half is not the only new release with a cloud over it. The Cohiba 1966 is getting its share of 'slatings' to, which might explain some of the delay in releasings. Habanos hoping that an extra six months or so might improve them?

Can't say I've been following a lot of reviews, the one or two I did read/watch about the 1966 had made me want to try some. Where are you doing your reading?

Smart word from Havana last week is that if you can get your hands on the very early batches of the H. Upmann tins they are very very good. This comes from someone who knows his 'onions'.

Christoph runs a Casa in Germany, is a great mate and partner of Mitch's and having met him I wouldn't be surprised if he said he could do a Behike 56 in 15 minutes, serious set of lungs that boy!

Which started me wondering about the smoke time Nick. 30mins for a 99 x 44 did seem very short when I knew a 101 x 40 takes longer. I was looking forward to the Upmann HC but Cristoph's other comments had me thinking have Habanos screwed up again. Re-inventing a wheel (badly by account) when they had three perfectly good ones in the Punch Petit Punch, RyJ Petit Princess and Dippy 5.
