  • HDM Epicure No2 FEB 2010

I have probably smoked more of the Epicure No2 over the years than any other cigar. Around two years ago I sort of lost interset in them as I thought they did not seem to have the same taste profile that I had always enjoyed.

I purchased a box in mid FEB 2010 box and sat them in the humi to rest. Having recently opened them and started smoking them I am now loving the Epicure No2 once again. This is what I love about cigars in general; similar to a good wine or malt whisky the product varies from year to year, and every once in a while you get something which blows you away.

I am just now starting to smoke some of my early 2010 cigars and it looks like the crop from 2010 is shaping up to be a very good year indeed.

Strange coincidence here as I was just adding up my previous smoked cigars & noted that after Monte No 4's (which was my main stay for the first few yrs of smoking Havanas), Hoyo No 2 is my second most smoked cigar. I have stock from '99, Cabs from 12/04 & 07/08. I just smoked one from the 2004 cab & it was just perfect, still improving from last year when it was already 6yo. Guess a duff yr isn't worth aging but a good yr of Hoyo's can get sooo much better with a little patience

Epi 2's are a firm fave of mine. Already been through a box and a half since the spring. I've put 3 aside from my original 09 box to age a while, the rest had no chance to hang around!

Been a while since I've had one Whisk mate...

But I also think they are a great smoke once they have a few years on them...

I think the majority of the hoyo brand has went down hill. I liked the old blend better. Recent DCs, Churchills and epi 2s have fell way short. exceptions being the petit robusto, coronations tubos and strangely the epi 1.

Always preferred the epi No.1, have a couple of cabs from 2009 and 2010 and they seem to be getting better and better. Perhaps I just like the size better?
