  • Cutting Torps

I've been smoking a few more Torpedos and Piramides recently and always been unsure about the cutting.

On a typical Monte 2 or PSDN2 how much of a cut are you making? I find it difficult to spot where the cap ends and am only chopping off about half a cm...

half a cm to a cm suits me just fine Will...

Always cut half a cm first, take a draw and see how it pulls...

If a little tight then I just clip some more...

    Cheers, HabanoSy

Do you make a straight cut? I think I heard somewhere about cutting torps at an angle, is there any merit in doing this?

Straight cut has always suited me fine...

Although now you say it, I have seen others cutting at an angle but I've never thought to ask why...!?!

Maybe one of our fine BOTL's can enlighten us...!?!

Yeah about half a cm to 1 cm I think is about right although everyone has there own size of cut that suits, with regard to cutting at an angle, personally I've never heard of that or even seen it, I'd imagine that on the plus side cutting at an angle would give you a bigger area from which to draw, but on the down side cutting at an angle there's probably a good chance of cutting right through the cap and it possibly falling off, just my opinion.

See if you can grab a V-cutter, they work amazing on Torpedos and Piramides and the cut is the same depth each time, no need to worry about how much to take off

I use one of these. Takes away any guesswork. Perfect every time.

Had mine a couple o' years now and she's still cutting true an' sharp. They're meant to be self-sharpening .... maybe they've changed the steel on the latest ones?

yup, the old ones are great, the new ones are not.

How does a v cutter benefit a torp?
