was looking into doing a day trip from belfast to geneva!!! with about 5hrs in geneva, works out at ?13 return!!! flies out at 06:15, arrives 09:15, return flight is at 14:30, arriving home at 16:30 (an hr quicker than going there i know, but hey, that's what it says)........ reckon i'm sold!!!! it's cheaper than a day trip on the train to dublin (which is ?20, which 2hrs travelling and 8hrs in dublin), and not much more than a taxi into belfast city center (which is about ?5)!!!

    geneva, here i come!!! lol!!!

It takes 5 minutes on the train to get into town, and this wonderful haven of cigars is about a 15 minute walk from the station. PM me for further details if you have time to get away from the airport.
      hey rodster,
i'm aware of this fine establishment, read many great reports on it!!! what's the prices like? can you give some examples please?

      cheers,

I'll be at this apartment on 3rd April; my favourite place in geneva - just compiling my shopping list!

Still worth visiting the other shops in town even though they are a bit more expensive (Davidoff, Tabac Rhein, LCDH etc)

I've not bought anything from the airport in the past because that's more expensive.

Alex - if you do a quick google for "Gesto Cigars" you'll find their website, it's in English. I'm well keen for a shopping trip too - keen to use it to shop for singles so that I've got plenty of variety to work through this summer... and even nicer to grab that variety at continental prices!

hey michael, if i do decide to go, it'll be saturday 9th april!!! i've checked out the gesto site and the prices are very good indeed!!! obviously i'm not going shopping for cabs or boxes, perhaps a few 3-5 packs or a couple of boxes of 10!!! the prices i've saw for return flights with easyjet and jet2, i reckon i'll be making it a regular thing (it's twice the price of a taxi into belfast city center, nearly half the price of a return train ticket to dublin etc etc)!!!

            cheers,

            alex

Michael, in your experience how much time is needed to get from the airport to down-town and do your shopping then back to the airport?

train is only about 10 mins, and from station you just walk straight down, over the lake until you reach rue de marche (it's got trams on it); Gesto is on there.

Takes about 10 mins to walk there. the other places are dotted about here and there (Davidoff is further along rue de marche); LCDH is just off one of the "places" nearby, Tabac Rhein and another one I can't remember the name of are back the other side of bridge (back towards train station)

they do have rather a lot of stock at Gesto's (you have to know where it is by the way; 5th floor of an apartment block off the street).

whole place is a humidified flat, brilliant!

Are there any pics anywhere of this "mythical" place. I'd love to see it.
