  • France regionals

In the last couple of years France has seen some odd behaviours in regards to its regionals.

They’ve had previous regionals pop up again, and now several times. E.g. the Clemenceau has now appeared in shops for a third time. Other editions have seen similar duplication.

Not only that, right now you can find at least four different regionals being delivered and sold at the same time:
    1. PL Promotidos
    2. QD Clemenceau
    3. JL Dom Juan 1622
    4. QD Capitolio (2018!)
    All a bit bonkers!

Regional distributor holding back stock I'd guess. Dripping in as the prices rise maybe? Or are they sold at release pricing?

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

They're being sold at roughly original prices but they've got recent box dates which tells me that the initial quotas were not fulfilled at the time. I've seen QdO Capitolios with 2023 box dates
If you look at PCC, they've also been releasing some of their old regionals too. The Cuaba APAC from 2020(?) has 2023 and 24 box codes IIRC. The SCdlH from a few years past has also been released with recent box codes

Cuba is not rolling and releasing the entire batch of whatever number to regional distributors at one time. This has been going on for at least 3-5 years so far. Same with recent La Cuna etc.

I was in Bordeaux 10+ years ago and there were a couple of very nice shops. I recall one in the main square having a huge walk-in humidor...full of regionals!
A quick look on Google Maps brought this up. Some will be plain old Tabacs so don't expect much in the way of puros.
Having a smoke down by the river was lovely
