South Africa - Cape town and Garden Trail

Hi All,

I am set to travel to South Africa for a wedding. Then spending 2 weeks travelling along the Garden Route. I am already booked into the Santa Bra Cigars tour, which looks great. However, I could use some advice for my trip.

• The pricey seem great online - I can pre-order some cigars using the online South African cigar websites (having them delivered to a friend's house in Cape Town). However, are prices generally even better in brick and mortar shops?
• Anyone have any experience travelling there? Are shops generally trusted, or will they take advantage?

Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!

Online prices are good, but be careful with the vendor. There have been fakes from even reputable guys. Dm me the ones you’ve found and I’ll have them checked for you by locals. I have a good contact at one in particular that’s been around many many years. Send me your email address and I’ll loop you in.

I’ll also reply to you with the number of a cigar guy in Cape Town that’s trusted (so far!) but still check your sticks properly no matter what.

Make sure you do meals at:
1. La Colombe (my favourite of all time)
2. Chefs warehouse
3. Foxcroft casual but excellent - not sure if they still around.

Be very careful walking the streets anywhere in SA. No jewellery or watches on display please.
