  • Not welcome in Majorca

I can’t speak for the whole of Majorca but in Puerto Pollenca, Pollenca, Alcudia and Alaro I didn’t see a single ashtray on a cafe or restaurant table and both of the cocktail bars we went to had no smoking signs. Of course it’s still illegal to smoke on the beach but they seem to have kept it voluntarily everywhere.

That sounds a bit rubbish! Good luck on the hunt for finding somewhere more welcoming and enjoying some more sticks by the sea! Are you exploring the island for a cigar shop or brought enough in your suitcase? I am heading over to the Italian Lakes this summer so hope to discover a shop and nice terrace or two to enjoy!

Smoking in the sea in your floating doughnut or lilo however is perfectly legal

I didn't really notice any issues in Palma although thinking about it I didn't really smoke outside our hotel very much as we had booked a room with a terrace that I checked prior I could smoke on. In the pool/bar area there were no ashtrays but I was given one when I asked.
Couple of the bars we went to later at night were fine with smoking outside but they were places I'd been before and had no issues.
It's definitely becoming harder finding somewhere cigar friendly, couple of other places we had looked had said no smoking on balcony/terrace.

I’m off to Palma soon and was wondering what the stock levels are like in any of the cigar shops ?

Wow, total smoking ban in our hotel bar our veranda

Town the same, all bars and restaurants are a no go and must go on the sidewalk to smoke…

The two Cava de Puros I visited have no stock of Cubans at all…. Blaming the Chinese

It wasn't looking too good, I went to a lot of places and managed to find bits in each but a lot of the time I was taking the last of what they had.
Most had Cohiba, Trinidad and Linea D'Oro and a few D4's. Managed to get a 10 box of Short Churchill, Mag 54 and D4, rest was taking the last of the singles available.
Was some pretty good NC stuff around though, opus in one shop.

Off to Majorca in a couple of weeks, not holding out much hope of too much around. TBH I am looking at Humi fillers rather than any top end stuff

Look for small Tabacs, Google is your friend. Everyone I went to had a box of Capitol Jack which I can recommend, I bought two. I can also recommend the Vega Fina Nicaragua, you can pick up a box of the Vulcanos for €50, they're like Nubs.

When you travel do you pick up decent Cubans at cheaper prices than the UK, as you’re only allowed to bring 50 back, or do you just pick up 50 cheap smokes of any type?

Always Cubans for me. If you find something special then it’s a score, else just regular production stuff to stash away.

I’ll usually be able to bring back 100 with my mule.

Always Cuban, I usually grab 2 boxes of fillers, 1 decent box and then a selection of singles/doubles/fivers.

                            Getting quite expensive now though!
