I was in Riyadh earlier this month. I doubt that any of you would go to KSA on holidays but some might go for work one day. I brought my own cigars as I checked a little on google and even though they have a few cigar stores there prices seem to be very high. I asked my host to book me a hotel with a cigar lounge which he kindly did. I stayed at the Sheraton Riyadh Hotel and Towers, they have a small lounge (indoors of course, lol) with around 16 seats. No cigars for sale there. The lounge wasn't too bad but they had the AC running on full power, so it was a bit cold in there. The place was pretty much full when I went late in the evening, mainly Saudi men and a couple of foreigners. Most of the locals where giving me the evil eye. But, all Saudi males were pretty much assholes everywhere. The few Saudi women who were working (mainly at the airport) on the other hand were all extremely nice as were all foreigners (mainly Indians) who worked at the hotel or in restaurants. Drinks were very cheap in the lounge, around €5 for a big bottle of San Pellegrino. There weren't any alcoholic beverages of course. Do not try to bring alcohol with you if you go one day. You will be deported if they catch you with some and you will get a heavy fine as well. If you are unlucky you will get a dozen lashes on top, lol!
Outside smoking is not allowed close to public places and it was to bloody hot anyway to go outside for more than 5 minutes.
Nothing to see in the city which is ugly as hell unless you are into highways and tall buildings. We had a driver and I think that it's a bad idea to drive on your own since people there can't drive and are rather reckless drivers. We saw a ton of accidents and quite a few drivers who seemed to have a death wish, lol. But if you have time and a good driver ask him to go to the edge of the world in the desert. It's a little over two hours from the city and one of the most stunning things that I have seen in my life. The only downside is that you have to drive 22 km off road through the desert, so you need a good driver and a 4x4.
I thought that I might find some REs flying out but the duty free was a joke. They had two small showcases with Davidoffs and nothing else.
