So I'm running away from my problems this September - flying to instabul on the 1st and coming back... some time later. Cigars - airport? UK side/Turkey side?
Depends if you are landing at Istanbul New Airport or Sabiha Gokcen airport.
Istanbul airport is huge and has a number of cigar shops.....one had the e330k Cohiba Humidor, stunning. Well stocked, never been into Istanbul, but passed through both many times. Gokcen not as good.
I transited there last year through Istanbul Airport and it was great for cigars, loads of stock with nice conditioned walk in humidors and managed to pick up a box of LGC turkish regional and also a year old box of Boli libertators. The sales guy was happy to open unopened boxes so I can pick the ones I wanted. Prices were cheaper than London but not the cheapest in europe.
Was a good 6 years ago but I flew through Istanbul and the Cigar store was huge. Guy there was very helpful and even made me put stuff back he didn't think I would like!
Cigars were extremely well kept and prices were reasonable.
So, there is actually an lcdh in the airport with a good selection of h Upmann, some expensive cohiba, a few rj, some quinteros, vegueors etc, seemed a little pricey - 109 euros for 10 x mag54s and 90 for 10 x party d s5 - Jun and Dec 19. I really prefer a selection as opposed to a uniform box but the 3x and 5x packs were probably 30% more costly so 10s it is - they had a better selection of 25s really, and I just went with cheapish ones. They had a habanos robusto selection pack but it worked out as like 20 euros a stick and they were RE so no thanks.
These that I bought and plenty of other boxes were already open - the guy was helpful and happy to show me the wares. He had lost the box opener which was annoying though so I couldn't open new ones.
