Thought it might be interesting to canvass members? opinions and experiences of any restaurants that are pro cigar smoking, and maybe compile a list of those that encourage and embrace ?brothers of the leaf?.

Here in the UK/Nanny state, since the smoking ban came into force, it?s been a bit of a problem. Generally speaking you? be less likely to offend a fellow diner if you engaged in sexual congress with your date, than if you attempted to extract and light a cigar (although I understand former President Bill Clinton managed both ...at the same time! ??Allegedly?).

The most notable/obvious one I can think of is the Hotel Du Vin chain, who at least have made the effort to provide comfortable and warm outdoor ?bothy? type accommodation (along with walk in humidors, wide malt and brandy selections etc), however, I would be very keen to hear of any others you guys have encountered and can recommend.
Hopefully, over time we could grow it into a decent list.

I've not experienced a restaurant as such-only been to pubs with good smoking areas. I notice someone has put the Hotel du Vin in Winchester on our wiki though. I might have to investigate this chain!

Thanks Dave, I hadn't spotted the Wiki page thingy.
I must post up some info on it about a couple of others I've tried, at least I will as soon as I can figure out how. lol.

Would highly recommened the Hotel du Vin. I have stayed at Cambridge and Brighton and they are superb. Bring your own stogies though, prices are through the roof.

The Brighton hotel made for a great weekend away with my partner - an awful lot to do, go and see down there!

Steve just beat me to it.

The Cigars.co.uk/ Hunters and Frankau COSA list (Comfortable Outdoor Smoking Areas) is invaluable. They do it in a handy printed booklet and if you ask them nicely I am sure they would post you one.

The web site is the best place to go however, as it's updated as new spots are added.

Finally I should blow my own trumpet it you are looking for somewhere in London, this page on the Cuban Cigar Walk London web site will show you my personal choices - http://www.citiesinsound.com/shopWeb...ge.php?page=20

Someone has just recommended the Churchill Hotel in York, with it's associated "Cigar Bunker" to me - anyone ever experienced this one ?

Hotel du Vin is superb but Boisdale in Belgravia has to be the King of outdoor smoking venues. Spent a very pleasant 2 hours up on its outdoor terrace last Christmas following a particularly long lunch.

Having said that, this year we are heading to The Contended Vine in Pimblico which also boasts are lovely warm smoking terrace - I'll report back!

Bugger, wish I knew about that one in April Neill. There's a good cigar shop in York too.
