How many cigars can one bring when visiting Canada

I will probably be visiting Canada before the summer with my brother to have a road trip in an RV. Since I smoke around two sticks a day when on vacation and my brother a little less I was wondering just how many cigars we could bring. I have read that Canadian customs are a little ?ptight when it comes to tobacco. Does anyone know how this works. I believe that I have to show them what I bring, how much is allowed? Will they be going through my luggage or can I cheat?

Anyways, I'm really looking forward to this trip. It will be great, lots of nature, a little beer, cigars and no women. Just two guys on the road!

And usually the luggage rummage is pot luck... No experience of Canada myself though.

Also as you will be taking in singles and not a box it should be totally fine

50 cigars is correct ... also allowed 200 cigarillos (think cohiba short/clubs) .
if you declare and ask where to pay (I have declared too many cigars at least 20 times) ... you should not have your luggage inspected .

A good question with no definitive answer ... or roughly whatever the Canadian border services feels like charging that day .

in 2016 I brought home 100 too many cigars ... cost to me was 210$can
in 2009 I brought home 100 too many cigars ... cost to me was 470$can

both had a value (declared by me) of 100$cuc

I will let the Canadian customs decide if they want to charge me and my brother. Maybe it will be OK if we bring 50 or 60 sticks between the two of us.

Yeah, a couple of other countries come to mind: Australia and Singapore. Oh and Thailand to some extend where the allowed quantity is very low. If you exceed you will fined over $1000.

That why I didn't think you'd have to pay duty on singles...wow didn't realise Canada was so strick.

It should also be noted ... when I return to Alberta (my home province) I get charged PST (provincial sales tax) ... when I return to any other province (say Toronto Ontario) I will not be charged PST (about half of your duties) .
