You may have noticed that i haven't posted many photos on here recently. That is because I was on holiday in the DR and was accessing the forum via Safari on my iPhone which would just not let me upload photos. So for those with the patience here are the pictures.
To start with, this was the complimentary mini bar

Several times i left my phone in my room so some smokes will have been missed such as the JL2 I smoked on arrival, followed that evening by a nice little Punch Bolo. A new NC littlun to me and very nice too.
IMG_1793.jpg
Next day a Julieta on the beach and a D6 at dinner time
IMG_1803.jpgIMG_1796.jpg
This was a locally rolled Dominican that cost me $8 from the resort shop and it was surprisingly good
IMG_1807.jpg
A couple more cubans
IMG_1812.jpgIMG_1814.jpg
And what out American cousins were doing whilst I maintained my dignity with that Boli Lonsdale
IMG_1816.jpg
As you can see I took a good selection with me
IMG_1821.jpgIMG_1827.jpg
We had quite a lot of rain in the first week and during of our excursions I picked up this Arturo Fuente. Mild, very pleasant but MLW got bored with me smoking it!
IMG_1829.jpg
One of our excursions was to a local factory I've visited before. I had hoped to pick up a box of LFD Andalusian Bulls whilst here which retail for $150 in the States. They wanted $290 so I settled for a single to try. I also picked up a pack of Caldwell Yellow Cake and some littluns. On the right is a fifty pack of Angelitos made in the factory that cost me $85. Locally made cigars are still good value with a fifty pack of robustos being available for ?250.
IMG_1831.jpg
It poured with rain so I spent two hours smoking my Andalusian Bull. Cigar of the year? I don't know but it is a very nice cigar. Beautifully made and only one relight required near the end. The flavour was mild and clean with no pepper at all and also no transitions.
IMG_1835.jpg
The next day was a Monte day starting with a Media Corona in the morning. In the afternoon it bloody rained again and I took the opportunity to smoke the 80th Anniversary generously given to me by cigarmo. What was it like? See the description for the Andalusian Bull. Same good construction and burn. Same smoking time and a very similar flavour profile.
IMG_1837.jpgIMG_1839.jpgIMG_1840.jpg
This was one of the Caldwell Yellow Cakes, they felt a little soft and its reluctance to burn confirmed that it was probably too humid. The rest of the pack should settle down in my humi.
IMG_1845.jpg
After a Monte day I had to have a Partagas day too with these two
IMG_1848.jpgIMG_1852.jpg
Sun's out, big guns out with a Siglo VI on the beach
IMG_1855.jpg
This is a Dominican RyJ lancero made about 50 miles from where I'm sitting. It was then exported to the USA and sent to me in the UK. I then loaded it in my case and brought it back to smoke it. Ironic really but a damned good smoke and my favourite lancero.
IMG_1859.jpgIMG_1860.jpg
My number two of the day was an Upmann
IMG_1863.jpg
Nat Sherman the following morning
IMG_1867.jpg
Followed by this Boli in the afternoon. I bought the ashtray because I was fed up with looking for one.
IMG_1868.jpg
Another Dominican come home to die, this time an RyJ Lonsdale.
IMG_1880.jpg
On one of our excursions a young lad proposed to his girlfriend and then produced a box of locally produced vanilla cigars. Fortunately I had come armed with a Punch Double Maduro robusto which elicited the appropriate respectful comments
IMG_0796.jpg
Unfortunately my smoking was curtailed by catching a stinking cold and my nose was running like a tap for two days, no fun in 30 degree heat. On the positive side I found a box of Andalusian Bulls at the airport for $183 but the card reader declined my credit card. Guess what MLW has got me for Christmas!
