If you can swing by your local B&M cigar store a pack of decent cigar matches and a punch squares your problem away.... unless you are taking pyramides/bellicosos!!

Or unless its windy! I had to light several cigars with my head under a towel using the clipper
I had a windy night on hols recently. Was a PITA to light up. Had to go find a covered corner. Then discovered these in the local mini market 3? life saver
It wasn't too windy to relax, drink, smoke!

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...
Getting in a bit late here, but for what it's worth I've always been okay with a cutter in hand luggage. Usually I just take a cheapy, free single blade cutter though.
Not tried taking a gas lighter yet, but you can always get matches

I've done that too!! or secreted into a corner of a terrace etc.... but was still better than stressing over lighters... rattled through a pack of matches fairly quickly then moved onto BBQ matches from the local supermarket!
Last time I flew with smokes, cutter wise I packed my victornox punch / pen knife into my hold luggage and all was well

Thanks for all the extra tips and advice - my favourite cutter currently is a proper cheapy freebie so will stick that in my case - I'll take matches as mentioned and will pick up a cheap torch/ single jet thing when i'm there.
As a newbie I am yet to invest i fancy cutters and lighters yet
A punch would be interesting to try as I have only every smoked 'cut' cigars
