  • Cutters and lighters in Hand Luggage

This probably is a bit of a stupid question but as I have one, never travelled with these items before and 2, can't find any decent answers through google searches.

Heading to Barcelona in a few weeks for a post wedding break away and it occurred to me I am just taking carry on hand luggage no checked bags - I intend to either take with me or buy out there a cutter and lighter (possibly torch) to cut and light my smokes - can I take those items on the plane in hand luggage or will I have to buy out there and chuck em before I come back?

    Thanks
    Dave

I was always under the impression that you could take a lighter in your carry on but not according to the instructions for my EasyJet flight to Majorca in two weeks.

My lesson from this summer is you can take a lighter, but it must be on you at ALL times - not packed, and not in hand luggage :/ I would pack the cigar cutter in your case, other wise this may be taken off you

PS - just reread your post and your note taking checked luggage with you - i would therefore either buy one over there, pre-cut your cigars prior to going, or risk it with a cheap one!

Might as well by cheap ones out there, surely.

keep your cutter in checked luggage, especially if it is a scissors type.
Buy matches when you get there. I wouldn't risk a good lighter.

In the Dominican Republic three years ago all I could find was a cheap clipper lighter, no gas and not even matches on my resort.

Regarding lighters there are great travel lighters which I've been using as my Normal light recently....

I've had this one but they've also got a new updated one which seem to work much better.

Just make sure the disposal lighter is separate or buy one when your out there in Spain and then insert it in the case.

Regarding cutter...take a cheapy one with u just incase they nab it..or again buy one out there...I don't think finding a shop out there will be an issue.

Or take a punch...I don't think there is anything wrong about taking them on an airline.

You can get a pretty decent cigar punch keyring online for about ?4. They're very handy.

I had this exact problem over there earlier this year, in all my holidays abroad I have just bought a cheap lighter over there but this has convinced me to buy a cigar traveller lighter next time I go away (despite my initial skepticism on the product )

Make Duaso your first port of call, and assuming that you buy some cigars they will give you a cutter - well they did when I was there a couple of months ago. FWIW, I nearly lost my colibri v cutter on a flight to Inverness, and was told by the security people that it wasn't allowed as it had screws holding it together but cheap plastic ones were ok in hand baggage.

They are really reliable with using very little gas.....I've had both iron roda versions and the latest design is the same which cigar traveler are using...is on point all the time...every single trigger provides a flame..and for ?10 can't go wrong as they come with a refillable disposal like lighter.

Hope it's better than the 'travellers' lighter' of the same principle that places are selling as cigar-specific (the black one) - complete waste of ?.

Im about a 5 min walk from fuster and duaso so will pop there shame I arrive on a Sunday when I believe they are shut. Might pre cut one or two stick just invade and I'm sure if it comes to it the hotel will have some matches.
