The holiday season is upon us and a gentleman's mind turns to duty free ciagr shopping. Last time I went to Tenerife I picked up a box of H Upmann #2s with a few years on them and last year in Majorca I scored some Partagas 898 and Upmann Mag 50s from 2008. From experience its a good idea to go with a wish list or you will just end up standing there open mouthed if you walk into the size of humidor I encountered in the Dominican Republic three years ago. Next week I'm off to Tenerife again and aged Partagas are top of my wish list. How about you? Are you looking for anything in particular this year?

I will be flying out to Rome in 4 weeks and would like to purchase a box or two of the current Italian RE.
Will fly out to San Diego in July and hope that I will leave from the terminal with the good duty free this time. If not I will probably get a box of the PL Opera (i skipped them in April) if it's still available and a few boxes of the QdO RE for my pals in the US.

The GF has mentioned that all our recent holidays seem to be to destinations which lend themselves to cigar purchases. I'm saying nowt
Once I know where I'm going then I'll start my research as to what's likely to be or possibly available at the destination or en route.
Managed to pick up a few boxes of Cuban REs on holiday last week.

If not, then I will try and pick up the more expensive smokes that are available.Simon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.

I don't know how Diadema does it, but they manage to almost always get it right... definitely one of the most consistent importers in terms of REs, IMO.

When I first smoked the Don Jos? I wasn't by any means a fan, and flavour wise it's got nothing to do with the brilliant Selectos Finos, but every one I've smoked since that first one has been better and better. Someone mentioned the cigar had a finesse that is currently very rare, and I completely agree. It's a very unique smoke, elegant and with distinct flavours, different from any other in the HSA lineup, and has improved immensely since last year, so I'm hoping it will be brilliant in a few years.David

I will also try to get some singles of the Don Jose since I don't want to break into my box just yet. The weird thing is that mine have extremely clear wrappers and most of the pics that have seen show cigars with darker ones.

Already picked up my main sticks when in Cuba last month, Siglo VI and BHK52.
Going to Marbella in July and a trip to Gibraltar is on the cards. I'm not sure if there is anything in particular to aim for out that way but really only hankering after a box of PSD4.

escepcion is definitely on my target list for our september Rome trip if I dont get it via another source before hand!!
Also the last time I was in Madeira there were Behikes in the duty free... which looked like no one ever opened the cabinet... so I am hoping there are some untouched gems left there...
Other than that, I will wait and see what either Massimo or Fincato can offer..."Dear heart, you're talking to a man- a real man- who drinks straight Tequilla, with lime and salt on the rim, and smokes cigars" (J Zavala)

Armed with the contents of my pocket money account and without my wife I trekked off to the cigar shop and came out with......... a three pack of D4 tubos from 2014 and a locally made El Stio robusto to try. I shall be saving my hard saved pennies in the hope of finding a box of Playboys in the DR.'Cigars are a hobby, cigarettes an addiction'
