This was quite a different haul for me!

I really wanted the pesso cigars from Holguin. They were made by pensioners next door to the RYJ factory!

Monte 4 is a knock off... I befriended one of the lifeguards at the local beach who took me to his village where I saw the fake operation in progress... actually rather impressive!

The jar of Noellas was a must for the price and now Mrs. P wanted them.

All in all that was 40 over my allowance and we had 3 70cl bottles of rum so decided to declare at customs!

The very nice chap gave me a nod, smile and move on gesture! Was an incredible trip...

I'm sure nobody is particularly fussed to see my wedding snaps which I can't share yet anyway as it's a surprise for family but, here is one of where we had our evening meal and me chilling on the first night!

Oh and my not so small baby when I got home!!

Congratulations on getting married and the great haul too!
The shop you mentioned, was it the Casa near the Market and Club Amigo hotel in Holguin? I was there last month too and bought a few boxes. Really helpful staff in the shop and quite a few life guards trying to sell me stuff too. I gave him a list of the the 3 Cuban REs I was interested in and I wasn't bothered after that.

Looks like you had a good time shopping - hope the wedding went as well. That little lot should keep you going for some years to come although I guess you will need to wait a while to get the best out of them. All the best to you and Mrs P.

Thanks mate, yeah same place! I made friends with Diane the lady who runs it when I was there two years ago!

To my absolute surprise she remembered me and my order from all that time ago and was there ready and willing to help.

At the "fake" factory they offered me 1 of each a P4, Lanceros, Monte 2 and RYJ Churchill from any box I wanted to snip in half to inspect... I think all the leaf came from the Holguin factory so my ripped Monte 4's are probably a RYJ 3?

Any way, they are all good!

                    Great trip!!

What a lovely haul. Sound like you had a great time

Yes I've heard some of the fakes are just Cubans cigars banded with a different marca.

How.much was the Dante's? Are they readily available...have a mate going next month gonna see if she can bring me some goodies

132 CUC for 10 - there were plenty about!
No Behike and only Reyas for Trinidad...

Quite a good selection in that little shop!

Congratulations, and what a super haul! I like the idea that a quality knock-off might well be just a matter of banding - what you are getting is probably good, but still mysterious.

If this is the result of getting hitched then it looks almost worth it! Seriously though congratulations and well done on the loot, bonus points for keeping cool with customs and breezing on by.
