• Sansone the smoking store in Rome

Did anybody pay a visit to Sansone the smoking store in Rome. They seem to have a nice selection in the pics they post on Instagram. Just booked our flights for Rome and I would like to pick up the current RE during my stay.

I'm not familiar with Sansone but would heartily recommend Fincato (an LCDH I think). It's also located right next to the Column of Marcus Aurelius so take in a little history whilst you're there (archaeologist over here sorry).

Cheers Toxophilite. That's why we're going, to take in as much history as possible. I just want to score a box of the RE and take a look if there's something that I don't have available. I'll check both store's out during our stay. I don't want to bore my girlfriend with cigars to much.....

I think you could quite easily lose yourself for hours in Fincato - veritable Aladdin's cave if tobbaciana. On the sight seeing front, if you get time I'd really recommend taking a trip out to Ostia Antics. It's an amazingly preserved/well excavated town which acted as the port of Rome until the 5th century. Up there with Pompeii in terms of preservation, but nowhere near as busy with tourists.

Thank you for letting me know. I just googled it and it looks like it's definitely worth to take a trip there. We will be in Rome 8 days, I figure that shall give us enough time to visit Ostia Antics.

I will be leaving soon and sent out a couple of e-mails regarding the Casanova. Fincato replied that there was no stock left but I will definitely be giving them a visit to see what they have in stock. Maybe I'll get lucky and find some slightly aged stock.

Sansone didn't even bother to reply to my e-mail which is a rather dumb and unprofessional move since a customer will probably buy something else. Well I guess that they won't be getting any money out of me...

According to don TJ's journal, he agrees with you - Fincato is a great place. He visited Fincato's some years ago and relaxed in the Pipe Room while enjoying the La Escepcion (Regional) and a Coke. A Must Visit for any puro aficionado.

Yes, I'm really looking forward to visit Fincato. I dare even say that I'm impatient to do so.
