  • Smoking in Paris

I am going to Pairs (Eurostar) in a couple of weeks time for a long weekend with the mrs and was wondering if it was worth taking a few sticks in case there are any cigar friendly lounges. Could go down nicely after a nice meal.

Consider the fact that Paris has hundreds of bars and cafes with substantial outside seating, many of which will be heated, so even if you dont make it to a smoking lounge, you'll have no problem finding somewhere to light up.

Also, cigars are substantially cheaper in France than UK - prices are set by the government - so seek out a 'Cave a Cigares' and have a root around their humidor to see what you can find.

See if you can find a nice little shop called A L? Civette...... very good selection of cigars and reasonably priced. Google for the address pal..... and yes plenty of smoking opportunities with outside seating.

Also France has a more relaxed attitude to smoking and as already mentioned, there are many outside cafes where you can sit, enjoy a cigar and watch the world go by

You should give Le Lotus a visit (4 Rue de l'Arcade, 75008 Paris). It's one of the better cigar stores in Paris, especially if you like aged cigars and are looking for French RE's.

Just got back from Paris and yes smoking outside the cafes was not a problem and they all have those outside heaters which was great. I went to that popular Tabac in the center of Paris and the selection was really good and price point very reasonable compared to the UK so bought back a few, however the service is crap (maybe its just a French thing) they dont have a clue about the product & they could have been selling anything. Will be going back all the same as its worth the train fare, liked the fact that they had a good range of non cuban as well.

Its not just France, in the Dominican Republic most of the girls in the cigar shops could have just as well have been selling newspapers for all they knew.

You should try out Le Lotus the next time you're in Paris. The owner is really passionate about cigars and you can easily spend an hour chatting with him about the hobby if there aren't to many customers around.

I had a great experience at le lotus a few years ago. Great service and good selection.

Next time I'll just treat it as a self service kiosk because they were no help to me at all.
