Hey folks.
Today was slightly different than any other day. House manager took kids to her friends and I was home alone . For most of the day! First thought, glass of alcohol and cigars, but then I realised that I will be another day like every day. Something had to be chaned.
I looked at google maps and found one mysteriously named s**thole - Anderby Creek. Apparently very well known for one of the best 'undiscovered' beaches (???). After taking into consideration all points against the trip (none) I was all geared up and rolling.
Took one cigar with me. I didn't want to spend too much time just sitting and smoking, I also expected quite strong winds at the coast, so it had to be something good, but not any of my best sticks.
I set off from Chesterfield towards Lincoln using mostly country lanes. Tried to avoid fast roads, as this was supposed to be relaxing trip. I stopped once for a fag and drink in the middle of nowhere.
At this point I was half way to my destination. Ride itself was great, not much traffic, amazing weather, great twisty roads. This day couldn't be any better.
As I was just outside of Anderby, I've noticed that a lot of houses had some decorations on the fences - as it turned out, local scarecrow festival! Some of them were quite funny, but most just purely creepy. Then one T junction with signpost in the middle, to which someone strapped two scarecrows. With smily faces and all that. First thing that sprung to my mind was horror move I've watched about two days ago, about scarecrows-killers
But finally I arrived. To my great dissappointment, I couldn't get the bike anywhere near the beach - I wanted few photos of the bike and sea in the background. It wasn't happening there, so I turned GPS off and started to look for suitable spot . Found first one in some residential area, but that wasn't really good. Carried on with the search and finally got to Chapel Beach. i cheated a little to get my shot, but it didn't seem to bother anybody.
Left her in the spot easily visible nearly from the waterline, so didn't have to worry about walking back home. Then nice walk down the beach and finally my objective for the day was fulfilled
Very few people, even less damn seagulls, this turned out to be perfect spot! JLP was just right, the wind was as I expected, if I smoked half of the cigar (despite nubbing it), that would be it.
Later had a short walk on the beach and found some dead creatures like starfish, jellyfish, crabs etc, picked up few shells as my trophies and without GPS returned home. Some of the roads in UK are truly stunning!
I've spent less than one hour on the beach and about 5 hours riding. All in all - fantastic day, for sure I will be doing it more often.
Cheers
Tom
PS. I've used "Cigar Travel" subforum as smoking was the sole purpose of this ride. But if mods feel it'll be better joined with today's smoking thread - I'm fine with that.
