entertainment in the hotels and in the street , theirs a shopping mall , where you could " stumble " upon the LCDH , one of a few

Al Capones bar was an ok bar for a daytime moyito , sat on the rear terrace with cuban bands playing

stay anywhere in Varadero , the bus takes you up and down the peninsula , very cheap , the new hotel near the marina looks v nice tho , think its Blau marina resort

smoke where you want mate , lots smoking cigars , male and female in the hotel bar , pool etc , nobody flinched .

Riu Varadero was ok i found for Cuban standards , your not gonna get anything too grand in Cuba , but i thought it was fine , decent rooms entertainment and food was edible , unlike Iberostar Tainos which was sh1te , yet the Canadians there seemed to be repeat guests .

I was in Varadero last May, the only entertainment is in the hotels. There is not much going out outside the town is, in my opinion, nothing to write home about. We wfent in one afternoon intending to spend the afternoon and evening there but were back in the hotel within 4 hours. We stayed in the Malia, which was next to the Las Americas complex. It's great for a rest but not much going on outside of the hotel complexes.

We stayed at Ocean Varadero el Patriarca.
Lovely hotel, with a coffee shop onsite that is part of your all inc. It was nice to call in after breakfast & have a potent liquer coffee at 8:30!
There was smoking allowed pretty much everywhere, apart from the eating places & the Piano Bar.
A small shop onsite sold cigars & there was a vending machine for cigarettes.
We caught the open top bus a couple of times down into Varadero centre. We particularly enjoyed Josone Park, which had a boating lake & a great outside bar which sold the best Pinar Colada's that we have ever tasted!
We didn't eat out but, a few people who we spoke to did & their feedback was positive - good food at cheap prices.
We did the Havana overnight trip with a tour of Pinar Del Rio too. Very highly recommended but, quite tiresome due to the journey back from Pinar (5 hrs on bus )

Any other questions/ thoughts just ask away.

Right, time to start my investigations.

Could you please give me a list of cigar stores to visit both in Havana and Varadero please.
Also, some ideas of real goodies that I should be looking out for. I am of the thinking that I will probably
look at buying the higher cost boxes ie. Cohiba, but am I likely to come across discontinued stock anywhere?

Plaza Las Americas " shopping mall " Varadero was good for me , you have the price list which was spot on , ask for older boxes . theyr in the back , in the shop is mostly current year , just keep saying " older " and send em back into the back , a few minutes saves you years mate .

they dont get the ageing business , and get them to open all boxes for your inspection .

some pics on here of me in this shop in " travel " i think

                              enjoy .
