I know cigars have been exempted from plain packaging in the UK, but I still despise the idea of introducing it for cigarettes (even though I don't smoke them)

I think all it's done is increase illegal cigar importing frequency across the channel. It actually hasn't cut too much usage down but it apparently has increased crime a bit more.
The other option is to do what the Mexicans do and strategically impose health stickers on every single possible corner of the original packaging. My Edmundo Dantes don't even have a box code anymore...
