For those into their pipes there are some stunning pipe shops in Rome.... But regretfully i didnt partake in the pipe when i saw them so i didnt mentally log where they all are. I do seem to remember one small but impressive maker & shop was a close neighbour to an antique coin shop.... All a bit Cluedo i know but hopefully nothing a judicious bit of googling cant solve!

Did you see many Italians smoking pipes?

A quick teaser of what I picked up here in Rome. The cigar situation is not great here - both Tabbachi owners/staff that I spoke to - Barbieri and Fincato said that they're just not getting sent enough good stuff and they don't know why... Barbieri suspects Cuba are not reporting bad harvests. Fincato said it's a huge problen for their business as a premium/luxury business.

As gojira alluded to there being lots of boxes on display but not for sale, these are apparently empty! I suppose it looks better than having an almost empty walk-in and probably aids humidity control as well...

                Anyway, the good news:

Picked up a box of RA LCDH Superiore and LCDH Punch 48 and then absolutely by chance, whilst searching for a postage stamp for MLW and a pack of Tuscano for myself, I spied a box of La Escepcion Don Jose sitting in the humi of a small neighborhood Tabbachi. There were only 14 left, I couldn't just leave them there, could I?

Also, please excuse poor quality photos. Taken in a rush at way too large resolution for upload so then had to screenshot them ?\_(ツ)_/?

Indeed Habanos..though i'm slightly kicking myself for not snapping up that box of LFdC from moteyi this week. Was so confident I'd find a box in Rome that I didn't pull the trigger. Hope you enjoy them [emoji6]

Nice find, shame there isn't anything much in the main tobacconists. Maybe off the beaten track is the way to go.

potpest I think it is. As mentioned before upthread, there are Tabbachi all over the city and many have a humi of some size, though offerings are pretty pedestrian in most cases. I did find a place that had a small walk-in but when I went to have a dig around, the power was switched off and it was doubling-up as a general store room!

Thats it with some of the smaller places, you often find some gems but then you never know how well they have been kept over the years. Can pay off if you have the patience and time to look.

Well played, the Don Jose are excellent cigars.
