Some of the islands are beautiful although a lot of them are under seige at the moment. Athens is a great city with all the monuments and ancient sites you expect, although the last time is was there (about 12 months ago) I was shocked by the amount of graffiti everywhere and there are some other very nice city's such as Thessalonika.

Talking to someone I know who was out there recently and said they had a fantastic time and that the situation out there was totally different from what they'd expected after hearing and reading everything about the crisis in the media before going. Always find that the media love a doom & gloom story and will embellish and exaggerate much like they did with regards to Dubai some years ago. In my opinion the only way to find out the true story is to personally go see for yourself.
