I am at Heathrow Terminal 5. The duty free prices don't seem so duty free after all. [emoji17] The selection is also missing a few stock standards.

Why would buy before you fly? Surely cheaper at the other end??

My only experience with Heathrow and cigars was eavesdropping on the vendor trying to persuade Peter Jones of Dragons Den fame to buy a cabinet of something he didn't want, he didn't get the sale, and I didn't get my copy of Theo Paphetis's book signed either.

I've just flown via Heathrow T5 and in general prices are cheaper from online suppliers, although you can occasionally find a regional at a good price. If you know that there's nothing available at the other end then buy if you find something .

I normally do, and it it cheaper in ZA. About 1/2 the price. HK is about 1/3 the price. I was looking at the prices for day trips for work to Europe when I don't have time to see the local B&M or spend time in the duty free coming back.

I don't think I've found much at UK airports that's what you would call "duty free" prices.

I am certain duty free at the UK airport is a con racket even outside of sticks. If you look at the booze its the same if not cheaper in Tesco.

I'm pretty sure I read something recently that suggested the prices in so called duty free shops was to be investigated by some watchdog or other as they were found not to be passing on the saving to customers.

found the T5 selection to be most disappointing... and I was only window shopping!

brother flew out recently and picked up a box of Dunhill Aged Centenas for considerably cheaper then here, ?70 odd if I remenber correctly.

Generally thought he Cubans were not that much cheaper, he phoned me and we compared the priceswhile he was stood in the Humidor.

the duty free is not that good these days, they used to have a "cigar hut " which was good , I used to look for the special offer cigars , they used to be cigars with a few years age on the them, and been picked over a few times, they must have thought if they had not sold, put them on special, had a few good buys
think lucky and you'll be lucky
