I was also at the Paradisus Varadero a couple of months ago - loved the quiet beach and bar area, disliked pretty much everything else! Hope you had a better experience.

We must've, the Mrs found the buffet a bit repetitive (it was but only as they ran out of things, I found plenty of variety) but the restaurants we tried (all except the Italian) were all nice. Staff were friendly, rooms clean, drinks generally good although one bartender was dreadful and another used Glenlivet 12 in a whisky sour. It was pretty quiet being low season, not sure how it would be if it was busier but we enjoyed it.
