  • Holiday in the US.

The wife and myself are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year. So we are planning on spending
almost one month in America. We will be spending time in San Francisco, Los Angeles and, finances allowing,
    Hawaii too.

Does anyone know of good cigar shops that I should be looking at visiting in any of the locations?
Also, any cigars that you think I should be sampling and maybe even bringing back with me.

I was also thinking about that special smoke on the big day. Would you chance taking a nice Cuban with you
and risk having it confiscated, or would you look to find something special over there?

    All recommendations greatly appreciated.

Remove band and I very much doubt you'd run into trouble... A close friend has done it many times!

Pretty obvious really. I am a real novice at this game.

        Thanks chaps. Great advice.

Now, any recommendations of what I should be trying to find and smoke?

My shopping list for New York in September is Romeo y Julieta 1875 Bullies, Rocky Patel Java Maduro, Drew Estate Flying Pigs, Cohiba Puro Dominicanas and a Boveda perspex humidor if that helps.
Oh and EP Carilla Inch Short Run 2015 if there's any left.

Excellent. I will have a little research into them. First stop is this Boveda perspex humidor. I am intrigued.

I go to the US about three times a year for work, and every time I go I do a little bit of research into B&M (that's Bricks and Mortar) cigar shops in the city where I am working and then pay them a visit with nothing on the shopping list.

Walk in, speak with an English accent, tell them what taste profile you prefer and ask for some recommendations, and the chances are you will not leave for a couple of hours!

You will probably walk out with between 5-10 cigars for a lot less than you were expecting to spend, but a great deal of chat and some very happy memories.

                Excellent. Cheers Rodster.
I will take that as the perfect excuse to leave the wife and kids around the pool for a couple of hours.

Hey Johnny, if you make it to Hawaii, and specifically Honolulu, check out R. Field gourmet food and wine company, it's a speciality food and drink store but has a cracking humidor, the manager is a big cigar guy, a great guy who has a wide range of non-Cubans particularly Tatajue's.

If you are in LA then I recommend Saiid at The Cigar Warehouse in Sherman Oaks, I'm luckily enough to have a daughter who travels to LA on a regular basis and she always manages to pick up AF Opus X at a reasonable price for me from these guys.
