  • Best of Europe

So.. Going from the Malta thread, a Partagas Serie D no4 sells there for around half of the price there as it does in the UK. Good old uk tax and duty no doubt adding to the cost.

So which other European countries get a better deal on Habanos?

Spanish prices are regulated and a hell of a lot cheaper than the UK.

Just be careful this thread stays in the rules.

My thought historically would be Spain/Andorra

Ta V, I think it does as it's not referring to UK sales made in other countries and I'm only referring to legal sales made when abroad.

Happy for this thread to be deleted if it's breaking the said rules though.

In Spain or the islands, a box of 25 RG Panatelas extra 2010 were 35 Euro last year, thats about ?28, i also found some JLP conservas from 2007 several 5 boxes at less than a single stick is in this country.

If you remember Hato joining us the other day he said that for the first time ever; due to rises in duty etc, Havanas are cheaper in Germany than they are in Spain

Yes, that was interesting and whilst hard to believe, it came from the Hato's mouth.

For many cigars, prices in France and Germany are cheaper than Spain.

                      RyJ Exhibicion 4: France €9.20, Germany €9.30, Spain €10.30
Partagas Presidentes: France 8.30, Germany 9.60, Spain 9.85
Partagas Super Partagas: France 3.90, Germany 4.30, Spain 5.00

                      to name a few…

Ref rules Marc, I think it's ok if we are discussing where we might chose to go on hols to take advantage of lowest legal prices, perfectly within the spirit & the letter of the laws of Europe & this club. Spain indeed used to be the cheapest but a Socialist government & EU laws that said all countries should try to harmonise their tax rules to prevent people just shopping across boarders, should be in line, have raised Spanish prices, just surprised to see Germany is now the cheapest. I know they still have smoking indoors, more than most of Europe.

I always thought Gib to give the best value bearing in mind you can buy boxes with some years on them..

Not like they had a few years back. I got a chance to see a list from 2012 of their inventory... and you wouldn't believe the stuff they had. lordy..... lordy....

How about Switzerland? Cannot help feeling that the cigar shop in the apartment block must have some very competitive prices when compared to those in Germany etc.
