  • Tabac's in France.

Could you please tell me what I would be likely to find in a Tabac in France?
Do they stock lots of Cuban cigars, or is it just a small selection of the odd single?

Best advice is to search the internet for specialist cigar merchants in the area your visiting , sadly France is very similar to UK now , where as once tabacs were everywhere in France they have suffered as well and are vanishing from the high street

      Thanks for the reply.
I visit France occasionally for fishing and the lakes tend to be in areas away from large towns and cities.
The only shops I see are the Tabacs in the local villages so I was wondering if I am likely to find any nice
purchases in them. We tend to drive through the night in France so visiting the big cities is unlikely.

Be very surprised johnny if they carry a large stock of cigars
if they did i bet they would be just a few brands at most.

              Refine Search!

Haha! France is a pretty big place, muchacho. Where 'bouts you headed?

I know there are some fine puro shops in Paris.

My next visit is in April. I will be fishing in the Limousin region approximately 30 miles from Limoges.
I have been before and there are a couple of Tabacs in local villages.

Drive a little bit further to Spain, or cross the border into Switzerland, Geneva to be precise, Gesto cigars, a truly brilliant selection.

Loads of Tabacs in my experience, not always specifically set up for cigars. They tend to have 3 or 4 NC brands a couple of larger CC brands and sometimes the French puro. Condition of cigars is to be judged on a case by case basis.

Some of the big cities have decent cigar shops

Is there any specific brands of French cigar that is worth looking out for?
I am off to France later this week.

If you're talking about Cuban cigars in France, then the brands are the same as ours. French RE, especially QdO are worth looking out for.

Tabac's can be fun and totally unpredictable. In one you might get a Gallic shrug of the shoulders, in another you might be shown a few treasures.

There are cigars produced in Southern France, I think Deano did a piece on them and may know the brand names.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!
