Dab with vinegar if you don't have any spray. Neutralises the venom.
old wives tale I'm afraid, while wasp stings are an overall alkali (Bee stings are acid)... The sting is delivers into sub dermal tissue. The vinegar has no way of getting to that tissue to neutralise.
Bite/sting sticks work because they generally contain a topical analgesic which numbs the pain receptors.
