Regarding weight of cigars, when I was in Vegas years ago I bought two boxes of Padron Anniversary smokes, we were dangerously close to going overweight on luggage, so I got them put into bags and just binned the boxes. Worked great and they transported fine in some blagged bubble wrap.

I'm going to buy a nylon hold-all that weighs a couple of ounces, fill it with dirty clothes and take it on as cabin baggage.

The sting

We had another lovely day on the beach which got curtailed by MLW getting stung on the temple by a wasp. Fortunately I had already nubbed my 2010 Punch Punch as we've spent the last few hours in the room. It's still painful but she's okay now, thank god she doesn't have an allergic reaction to them.

An interesting development today, I went to have a look at the cigars being sold by a licensed beach vendor as he showed them to a German tourist. Yes some of them were in glass topped boxes, with clearly displayed labels saying 'Made in the Dominican Republic' across the corner of the lid.

Dab with vinegar if you don't have any spray. Neutralises the venom.

We had a surprise shower this evening that sent everyone running indoors and me for the nearest parasol to finish my Leon Jimenes No 5 but not for long as it was too peppery for me. The first one on this holiday I haven't enjoyed.

Stayed there myself this year superb hotel. Did it have 3 hotels when you went?

I'm still here till next week and there are four lobbies, nine hotels, six swimming pools, two water parks, countless restaurants and a partridge in a pear tree (though I haven't found it yet!)
