We're in Punta Ca?a too but the place is massive. Our resort has nine hotels and is so big they have walley trollies to get you around!

The he last photo is the Cuban cabinet where sadly prices are comparable to the UK. Dominicans are generally the same price as in the USA

Old Bean....ya' gotta' get out of the resort/hotel and locate a B&M to find better prices.

            That's what I think, anyway.

Today we went on what looks like being my only factory tour to a small unit that makes Don Lucas cigars. The whole thing is aimed at tourists and includes a rum sampling lounge and a chocolate shop. When we were picked up by the complimentary minibus I fiund I was the only man with eight women, four of them very attractive American girls in their twenties. Another surprise came on arriving at the factory to find guards on the gate armed with pump action shotguns, even the Americans were surprised by that. We were ushered inside to what was basically a small rolling room where we could watch cigars being made whilst the guide gave a good commentary. Before that though he asked if any of us smoked cigars and then dived into a cabinet like Martyn's full of unbanded sticks a presented me with a Robusto to smoke on the tour. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg I dont know know if you can see these guys are using plastic moulds and behind them sits a press image.jpg And behind that that is the treasure image.jpgimage.jpg

That's so amazing. From what you say about it being laid out with rum tasting and couches etc. I imagine people who have never smoked a cigar in their life could really enjoy it.
Kudos man that's a really cool thing to be able to say you have done.

                    Heaven! You're in Heaven!

The pictures of the factory are great. How was the Robusto? Freshly rolled, I trust. Sometimes they may grab a not-so-freash stick that has entered the dreaded "sick period!"

Once out of the 'factory' we were led into the I inevitable gift shop which pleased MLW but better was to come as we were led upstairs to the walk in humidor, MLW said I was like a child in a sweet shop! They had cigars from everywhere but once again at tourist prices so restraint had to be applied. My free cigar was smoking beautifully and really good so MLW has bought me a box of 25 for Christmas, patience PJ!

Funny you say that because the guide said not to smoke them ready rolled or you'll have to keep relighting them. It was a perfect smoke, it didn't need relighting and burned straight as a dye. I really can't remember the overall flavours because there were so many distractions but I loved it and it had a fresh clean aftertaste

Finally today I was really pissed off with our stupid baggage weight restrictions when I found these beautiful humidors, these were my two favourites and they were also available as four point crystal ashtrays for $124 and I would have had one of those in a flash but they weighed about a kilo each!

Yeah think I would be suggesting it was time the missus bought a new hairdryer and that the 14 pairs of shoes she brought with her were getting a bit tatty and ready for the bin lol

Have you considered posting yourself a gift, by which I don't mean the humidors or ashtrays.......
