Yes of course... and we for the most part wear stripes/ rings of garlic and ride bikes with fresh bread in the basket everywhere.... oh and we still shit in holes in the ground...

That's nothing, my Norwegian family still blow their nose in the communal face washing bowl before a fun day of pillaging!

And of course, the English all have disgusting dental issues and live in stately homes.

Could it be natural French superiority complex [something that many countries do]? Really don't want to get too political here.. but it is something that I've noticed when traversing the small towns.
They're not particularly friendly to me in restaurants but do act better when I can speak their language. Same thing has happened in Switzerland.

Naturally, this is actually augmented in Quebec. Stories like my friends' parents having their menus grabbed from them by the servers are common tales nowadays...

They'd get no tip for that in Essex.
If you want to, you can.

I guess I left too much the benefit of a doubt. Allow me to elucidate.
Due to their lack of francophonic skills, they did not take their orders until the servers had nothing to do and were just loafting around.

When they got to the table, they refused to speak English. And After a minute of trying, the server gave up.
Next round came up and the servers just grabbed the menus out of their hands so the patrons were forced to leave.
            Scary places...

Well Gauloises were good enough for John McClain in Die Hard.... But I just know that Anouk Aimee and Brigitte Bardot would have gone for a Gitanes.

I may have got out of my seat and left, with the BBF still in-between my teeth ... All jokes aside I still find it weird how people could dislike the smell of a hand rolled cuban cigar vs a cloud of cheap tobacco hits!

Yeah. But not [specifically] because you don't speak their language.
Besides, this was conveying a deeper message! It didn't happen just in restaurants. But in all the service industries located there too.

                          Hahahahaha. Amazing.

They seem to find it tough to breathe. And with the way some Partagas D4s burn, I don't blame them

I suppose it comes down to whether or not you can appreciate good tobacco.. As basic as that sounds.

An annoying situation Stevieboy. One I've unfortunately encountered before (though not in Paris). I've had exactly the same as tippexx actually... it actually made my blood boil when myself and Dan (occasionally of this parish) were asked to stop smoking our cigars after 20 minutes because someone who'd just turned up and lit a fag complained. On the plus side, after I'd kicked up a fuss and demanded to have words with the manager, we got our drinks for free.
