  • Barcelona and Andorra

As I mentioned in one of the 'What are you smoking today' threads my wife and I have just booked a holiday to Barcelona I also just booked tickets to Barcelona vs Athletic Bilboa (two of my favourite Spanish league teams - the only game I might have preferred is El Clasico )

I won't bother asking where is good to for cigars as Stevieboy posts an incredibly useful thread on that (http://www.ukcigarforums.com/showthr...ight=barcelona).

Another thing it as we're going for nine nights we're also going to take a trip to Andorra and stay there a night - and from what I gather this is a bit of a cigar paradise! Needless to say I can't wait! If anyone has ever been there and recommends any shops in particular I'd really appreciate any tips

One question I did have is what are the rules surrounding bringing cigars back from Andorra, I read on another thread (again started by Steve) that you can bring 75 back into Spain per person (so potentially 150 between my wife and I), but as they would be coming back to the UK through an EU country would those cigars just be included in the 200 limit between EU countries, or does the fact that they are coming from a non-EU country originally mean that you shouldn't bring anymore than 50 per person? I will try looking it up but looking on the HMRC website it always so mind boggling!

Jammy bugger! The two best cigar-hunting places in the world (IMO)

You'll easily hit your quota in Andorra busy... It's paradise All the shops in Vella are worth a look but have a recce in them all before you make your purchasing decisions... there's so much choice you'd be best to have good look. You don't want to have bought 150 then find 4 boxes of RA 898s lol

This place is a LCDH http://www.cigarshop.ad and a you see, the prices are amazing and they've load of old stock such as Upmann 1s & 4s

In Barcelona: Gimenos, Duomo and Fuster were the best stocked. I did a wee write up on Barca in the travel section so hopefully that'll give you some pointers. Gimenos had a huge stock of common lines and Duomo had loads of rarities but tbh, you'll probably find them in Andorra

Regarding the combined amount you can bring back I'm afraid I've no idea. I bought 150 from Andorra and only a handful of QdO REs from France. I imagine the total might be 200 in all but I really can't say.

No matter what, you'll have a ball!

actually, Stevie, John's little joke is actually pretty accurate.
i went down there and cleaned them of all their Aged Tubos and Monte 1s and Punch Punch tubos. mates of mine cleared a box of old H Upmann chrome tubes they had from 2006. and once, mate of mine found a box of Cohiba Reservas there for 500 pesos or something like that (that's around 350 quid!!) two years ago.
I just went for the display items. the cohiba Vs from 2002 i got them because they were the display items in from of the actual boxes (stil int eh humidor) same with the 2004 Don Alejandros. you just gotta go Sherlock down there... and man were those prices good! 8 quid for a 2002 Siglo V!!

all of this stuff clears FAST. but then again, you can always do what i do: get the first pickings of the Bolivar Libertadores, H Upmann Connie As, etc. I still traverse LCDHs down there to pick up the best ones.
