Just flew back last Tuesday from Holguin.
Very disappointed that once we EVENTUALLY got into the departure lounge (Took over 1.5 hours for the whole flight to get in due to only ONE scanner), the Cigar shop was closed. Aarrghhhhhh........
Luckily I bought a couple of boxes from the state shop in Guardalavaca, or I'd have come back with nothing.
Moral of the story: Don't rely on getting your cigars at Holguin airport, even if the shop's open, you might not have time to go in as it takes so long to get into the lounge.
Also, in case you haven't been before, you also have to go through a scanner when you arrive (and again, only one machine, behind the passport control barrier), so that takes a long time too. Recommend you take water through as it is very hot and humid. Unfortunately, both in and outbound, you can't see the line as it's behind the passport control barriers, so just be aware.....
