Hi Shep, Great thread, you have me wanting to cross the boarder again; soon. I have heard the German authorites will be cracking down on smoking in public places again & perhaps Tippex's point about stopping alcohol being served in the lounges is part of that. I never figure this out, it happens in England as well. It's like saying OK you can sample a cigar in here but were not gojing to let oyu rally enjoy it. They have decided cigars are more unhealthy for you than alcohol (alcohol freely available in every town) so why stop it when combined? There's duty to be made by the Government on both after all. And yes, I have read a study linking the increased dangers of smoking with alcohol but a couple in a cigar bar is hardly going to increase any unproven riskmuch by having a couple of each in a cigare lounge. It's kiljoys at their worst - the Nanny state taking over ect, ect.
PS I lost a large post today when I tried to attach photos too; best I think to post, then add photos after & at least you don't have to re-type it all!

Hahahaha. When I'm with the mates, we always say these exact words. Nanny state taking over. Etc etc etc. Fascist America again, etc etc etc.
      Etc.

But seriously, we just ended smoking in public place in Ontario. Was just applied a week ago and now all cigar patios are technically illegal.
I'm so damn jaded I can't even be angry anymore. Ugh.
Oh also, we can't drink in public Anyways. But that's cuzz we're so close to fascist, nanny America that we start adopting their habits.
But at least I don't have to wait till I'm 65.5 years old for even a sip of cider from my local distillery district

Hmmmm. Cigar world seems to only be in DE.
Guess there aren't any other ones in other countries? I've also been to a Cigar World in America. But I'm guessing they're quite different.

Also, what's with the LCDHs in that country? Not worth too much if there exists cigar world?

There's is also this shop in Cologne. It's one of the prettiest you're likely to find and very friendly. Can't remember if it has a lounge or not though. Limited Regionals as it isn't an LCdH.

Thanks Tippexx - I was also meant to mention in the bit about Peter Heinrichs is that he also has another on the outskirts of Cologne which sounds really interesting - the Chateau Henri - this is taken from the website

Right at Cologne’s doorstep he built a ‚castle’ dedicated to the art of smoking. The Chateau Henri, providing over 1000 sqm for a sales area, tobacco museum and smoking lounge.

Unfortunately I didn't visit as it was too far out and we wanted to see a bit of Cologne as well, but there does seem to be s lot of options in that part of Germany

Thanks Simon - I want to be getting back soon too! My wife and I are hoping to get to Barcelona and Italy this year and my Mum and Dad are taking the whole family on a cruise through Holland and Belgium as well so Germany may have to wait to 2015, but I do love going there

I also agree about these laws - they seem to get passed but I'm sure only a minority actually care about it, when the smoking ban was introduced I don't know anyone one who felt particularly in favour of it (not necessarily opposed to the ban, but were also not opposed to smoking in pubs), it just a very vocal minority who make the fuss. How would alcohol in tobacconists possibly affect anyone apart from the people in there.

They do seem to have a few over there Jeremy, but I think Dusseldorf is unique in having two - I think generally there is normally one in a city (if any at all). They have loads of tobacconists generally. I suspect the the percentage of people that smoke in Germany is very high compared to the UK, so that may also mean more cigar smokers, which would mean more tobacconists makes sense
