Ah, that is a good point, obviously the money I am providing her with is what I have borrowed from her on previous occasions. If she decides to buy me a cigar or two as a holiday gift, then who am I to object? lol

in my situation academic really, unfortunately lol but is definitely good to get a figure that appears to be the consensus, I can think of nothing worse than returning from holiday and having your very expensive cigars confiscated and destroyed... that has got to sting a bit.

Its actually gone down, cigarettes used to be 1200.
The point is there ie no limit in law for personal consumption but at those amounts you are certain to be questioned as to why you have so many. By the letter of the law it should be the person who will smoke them bringing them through customs, other than that you are allowed to "Gift" them. The definition of gift is receiving NO payment in money or kind. So if your sister if going on holiday the only way she would be allowed to bring them back for you is as a gift by the definition explained above.

I am sure she will manage to bring back 25-ish cigars without too many issues, especially if the limit is at 200... I bloody hope so anyway lmao

Lol yeah, I didn't mean to sound like a repetitive legalistic ass. But I would hate to see someone get caught out just by not knowing the score

Surely she can bring in at least you requirement of 25 to 30 cigars from an EEU country without any problem either for her own use or as a Christmas present for her dearest brother.

I think what is getting at is that IF she was questioned(unlikely) she couldn't say my brother paid me to get them.

Just referring back to the OP..even the larger of the "Greek Islands" are pretty limited in their cigar outlets...I hope you won't be disappointed in what she's able to get.
Last time on Kefalonia I had more in my travel humi than they had on the whole island..especially if you discount the dried up sticks in the humidor at the Emelisse...sad...

Apparently she is thinking about Egypt too.

Her and her boyfriend are thinking of a last minute so could be anywhere, I have told her to get dip no1 or romeo y julieta churchills ... my 2 faves so far so if she can't get them I will have to bend over for the uk taxman lol now't new there then.

Oh that is encouraging if she does go there, I did imagine Egypt to be even harder than anywhere in the EU to get cigars? As stated though, I am no international jet setter so haven't a clue really lol

Of course the only problem with going somewhere like Egypt is that all the applicable UK taxes are payable on the cigars as they enter this country (I think tobacco excise duty is currently running at c.?220 per kilo?) and from what I've read/heard about people's experiences in the past, customs normally weigh the box/packaging and charge tax on that too...

Ok, so she has decided and booked, she is going to Tenerife.

Anyone know of the availability of Cubans there, any particular stockists etc? Anything to be mindful of in case of fakes etc e.g. is there a likelihood even of finding fakes etc?

Not sure what to ask really, the costs and stuff I suppose are covered by whatever is there and whether I have supplied her with enough beforehand... the importation, well, the amounts won't be anything close to the limit, so that side of things is taken care of I think.
