  • Bringing back cigars from the EU while on holiday

So my sister has announced she is going away in October, doesn't know where to yet, but will be one of the Greek islands no doubt. Being a new cigar lover I have made her aware that her holiday is infact a "cigar run" lol

Am I right in thinking 50 is the max to be brought back into the U.K. and what kind of prices will I be looking at to ensure I supply her with enough funds beforehand... I would like to snag 2 boxes, but 1 may have to suffice.

I aim to give her between ?250-300 and will be looking at cubans only, any of the usual suspects, preferably robusto or larger montecristo, partegas, RyJ, Diplomaticos etc you get the idea.

Any suggestions, ideas and info regarding the situation bringing them back from holiday re limits etc?

    Thanks chaps.

Well as it's in the EU prices won't be that great, they even show the non-EU flight prices next to them which are much much better!

Obviously you'll save, but it won't be huge amounts

Oh really? I was hoping it was predominantly the U.K. that heaped the taxes on... I am not a foreign holiday taker so have no idea myself about this kind of thing.

It won't be as exciting as I had hoped in that case lol

Get her to go to Spain best prices, you can bring back 200 within the EU without questions being asked.

She hasn't booked anything yet so that may be an option, but she does usually do the greek islands so I am expecting much of the same lol

200, wowsers, more than I thought, but sadly if the prices aren't as great as I imagined, I won't be anywhere near that limit If I can get a box of 25 and a few singles that will be a reasonable start to my tupperdor. Hopefully looking to get something a bit special but we will have to see what happens with regards availability and pricing.

Double check the amount on the official gov websites but i think 200 is for cigarettes, cigars is 70 only (open to corrections)

O.M.G. lol even better, that is far better than I imagined, and while it may not be as good as outside of the E.U. (don't tell me the prices, tears are not a good look on me) it is a nice saving from treasure island prices.

ah, well it is good to get it cleared up as to the limit, I know the customs guys are extremely aggressive with tobacco products, given that to my understanding the EU should operate as a single market, it extracts the urine a bit that there is a limit full stop.

Technically it's unlimited for your own consumption, at 200 they want you to answer for your actions. But also Technically she is not allowed to bring them back for you if you are giving her money to do so either.
