  • I had a bad day

So yesterday I was to fly back from Munich airport so I dropped my rental car off at around 10am. I had a tuppador with me with a few smokes in left over from my trip.

I got out of the car and collected my bags and went to get my receipt of return. I remembered I had forgotten my tuppador on the back seat so returned to the car to find it had gone. I asked them to get my box out of the car and they told me there was nothing in the car. An hour later they brought the car to me to search the car myself but it had been hovered and cleaned etc.

They were blatantly lying to my face and there was nothing I could do. I went to the police and they did a report but said I would never get the cigars back. I was absolutely devastated and I was so angry.

The rental company don't give a shit and neither did the airport staff.

    Here's a list of what I lost
Hoyo de monterry double corona x2
    Cohiba Behike 56
    Cohiba Behike 54
    Bolivar gold medal '07
    Cohiba siglo v '08
    Cohiba siglo vi '08
    H upmann no2
    Partagas serie d no2
    Cohiba piramides extra

    I definitely learnt my lesson!
Thanks for listening to my depressing story

Travel insurance? Or am i being stupid? The value of the theft is quite significant.

No you're not being stupid. I'm trying to claim it back now but the problem is I can't prove I had them as I don't have a receipt because I didn't buy them out there.

You know how insurance companies are

Nope no CCTV and I didn't take a picture. The insurance company are willing to give me around ?140 for the claim since I can't prove the value. It's not enough to replace them but its something I guess

To be fair to the insurance company, thats quite good of them considering there is no proof.

Still a hard one to take. Nice stiff drink tonight me thinks.

Thats not that bad at all.......
However, could be me just used to the bloody American insurance companies who without reason, sometimes can turn you down. Even when you have proof

This is terrible, I'm really sorry

Do you have some sort of report from the police which shows everything that was stolen, maybe you could use that as proof that you had them with you and get some more cash from the insurance company, even if you don't have receipts?

Nice people to deal with...next time hire a car from them & 100 metres from dropping it off, sugar the tank & burn the clutch out..won't get your cigars back but would make me feel better...

I really felt like stamping all over their heads. It's a horrible feeling having someone lie to your face. Im most disappointed with the siglo vi, boli gm and behike 54. The rest I have spares of.

Doesn't make it any less painful though. It makes it worse that I know it's all my fault. I wish you could trust people though

So sorry to hear this, it is very hard to come to terms with when someone outright lies to your face, takes a nerve.

At least the insurance company have offered something.
